Back online...

Yep, I've been on a semi-intentional blog hiatus since before I went to Blacksburg. I've been feeling low on energy lately and something had to give so this was it. I guess I felt if I had to choose between time and energy to knit and spin or time an energy to blog, knitting and spinning was always gonna win out. Now that I'm back I'm going to try to keep up with both.

Not much happened while I was blogless except:

- a great trip to Blacksburg which made me even more bummed to be here

- some great bird appearances in our backyard including this strange day where it was a raging party out there and we saw not 1, not 2, but 3 woodpeckers including one with a bring day-glo red head which strangely enough is named the red-bellied woopecker...I think bird people drink alot. The claim is that there belly also has a slight red wash...whatever

Red-Bellied Woodpeckers may be misnamed, but they are definitely the punk rock star of the bird world. Here's what the little dude looked like:
No, I didn't take this picture. I found it here along with more info than my bird book could provide. The one I saw was viewed through binocs and his head color was much brighter, but this pic gives you a good idea of how cool he his.

Other than that I finished some more socks...yay socks and started a stripey mystery thing that I will post pix of in the next few days...
